Capturing Love at Iconic DC Landmarks

Engagement Photos at the Jefferson Memorial at golden hour

Thomas Jefferson Memorial

There’s something extra special about photographing couples who have a story of perfect timing—and Frank and Nola are no exception. Their whirlwind romance has been filled with those serendipitous moments that remind you love is all about never giving up. When they told me they wanted to capture their engagement photos in some of D.C.'s most iconic spots, I was beyond excited. I knew it would be a session filled with both timeless romance and the city’s stunning charm.

We began at the Jefferson Memorial, a location that never disappoints. With its grand architecture and serene views over the Tidal Basin, it's the perfect place for a romantic, classic feel. Frank and Nola’s chemistry was electric, and seeing them against the backdrop of those sweeping columns added a touch of drama to the shoot. The Jefferson Memorial is a photographer's dream, with its mix of elegance and history. And trust me, it doesn’t get any better than capturing a couple’s love story there.

FDR Memorial

Next, we moved over to the FDR Memorial. This spot offers something unique with its open spaces, lush greenery, and quiet fountains. It’s a beautiful change of pace from the traditional monuments, and for Frank and Nola, it gave us the chance to capture more candid, intimate shots that reflect their down-to-earth connection. The FDR Memorial's peaceful ambiance is perfect for couples who want something slightly off the beaten path but still undeniably D.C.

Finally, we wrapped up at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, an iconic site with a powerful message and an incredible energy. This monument honors the legacy of a man who fought tirelessly for equality and love—something I know resonates deeply with Frank and Nola. “Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope” is engraved into the memorial and it sums of the love story of Nola and Frank beautifully! The weather was absolutely perfect, and as if on cue, golden hour arrived just in time to give us that soft, warm glow. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful light to end their engagement session. That golden-hour magic perfectly captured the promise of their future together.

To Frank and Nola, thank you for letting me be part of this unforgettable day. It was a privilege to photograph your love story in such meaningful places.
